The 10th edition of the Festival Barruguet, in collaboration with Sa Xerxa de Teatre in artistic selection, coordination, and production, took place from May 24th to 26th and managed to bring 16 companies and 20 shows from all over Spain to the island of Eivissa, including proposals from the Balearic Islands such as Àvol by Circ Bover, Hàbitat by Ludoteca de Jardí and Festa Fusta by the Jugueroix company.

To start, more than 3,100 Early Childhood and Primary Education students from the island participated in the school sessions that took place from Wednesday to Friday in the morning, with our tireless commitment to ensuring that all children have access to culture and, above all, to theatre! They were able to enjoy Coser y cantar(by Teloncillo Teatro), La faula de l’esquirolo Pinocchio(two projects by the company La baldufa).

In addition to the usual program, two social actions were also carried out (within the framework of the Teatre per a Tothom project). On this occasion, we decided to bring the Barruguet Festival to the Can Blai Residence in Santa Eulària des Riu and the Colisée Residence in Jesús through the Aquafonia company. About 120 residents of these centers were able to enjoy these performances, also thanks to the support of the Fundació la Caixa.

On Friday morning, the professional conferences also took place, with the participation of Jordi Rosselló, the secretary of Sa Xerxa de Teatre and technician at the Ajuntament de Vilafranca. From his experience and career, he explained what the FIET is and focused on the professional activities that take place there.

The closing event was a successful activity that practically filled the Santa Eulària des Riu Palau de Congressos. The chosen show was N’importe quoi de Leandre Clown, awarded the Best Show at FETEN 2023. After the performance, a draw was held to attend the FIET 2024, which this year was won by Raquel Muñoz and her family, and therefore, they will be able to travel to the Fira this October to enjoy all the shows! On the other hand, the Servera-Català family attended this past edition of the Festival Barruguet, thanks to winning the contest held at FIET 2023.

During this weekend, we have seen the play areas full during the three days of the Festival, with both adults and children enjoying playing. Within the entire theatre program, Aquafonia, el concert sold out, and Solo by Roi Borrallas ended with the audience standing due to a lack of seats. Therefore, we can conclude that this year’s Barruguet Festival has been a success, and we look forward with great enthusiasm and excitement to our next trip to the island of Ibiza to continue building a network of performing arts and sharing what we love most, children’s and youth theatre!
