The Jornades Pro return to the FIET
This weekend, the Valencian professionals Àngeles González and Loles Peris from U cinquanta have visited us to help Sa Xerxa de Teatre shape the Jornades Pro of the 2024 edition of the Fira de Teatre Infantil i Juvenil de les Illes Balears. We have dedicated the 14th and 15th of February to this entity with meetings, encounters, and work sessions to shape the networking among accredited professionals of the FIET, which will take place from the 17th to the 20th of October.
One of the objectives of the Fair has always been to generate spaces for reflection, debate, and presentations around the performing arts sector, especially focusing on children’s and youth theater. The chosen formula is to promote networking among attending professionals, giving rise to the Jornades Pro or Professionals, which consist of a series of activities aimed at sector professionals.
The Jornades combine formal meetings with others of a more relaxed nature. On Thursday and Friday mornings, roundtable discussions, debate spaces, workshops, etc., are held. Informal meetings are focused on finding other synergies and include professional dinners and lunches, as well as daily activities scheduled for when the FIET schedule ends.
The training sessions of the Jornades Pro are related to understanding the sector and its operation, but they also aim to work in the process of creating certain shows. Therefore, accredited professionals attend two Work in Progress sessions to exchange impressions and contribute to the creation of shows.
As a novelty in 2023, the Mercat de Projectes was launched, where proposals in the earliest stages of the creative process are selected and presented to the various accredited professionals of the Fira. In this way, in addition to presenting the project, its needs are exposed to the attendees with the aim of seeking collaborations.
Furthermore, for some years now, and thanks to being associated with COFAE, we find at the Fira the Facilitador pro, who is the figure that helps welcome and guide FIET professionals.
To manage and coordinate all these activities and events for accredited professionals, Sa Xerxa works together with the U cinquanta company. Specifically, we will have the help of Àngeles González and Loles Peris, with a lot of experience in the performing arts sector. The two professionals also took advantage of last weekend’s visit to get in touch with the teaching team of ESADIB, CESAG, and Institut Mossèn Alcover to involve them in the new edition of the Fair and outline common work lines. Therefore, we are advancing in the preparatory tasks and in the design of the Jornades Professionals, and soon we will be able to advance the program for 2024.
