Aventures artístiques and Trobades Implica’t
This year, we open the doors to theater with the program JOVES AL CENTRE! The project is aimed at individuals aged 16 to 25 to train in the theatrical world and give a voice in shaping the FIET program, made possible thanks to the support of the Ajuntament of Vilafranca de Bonany. From Sa Xerxa de Teatre, each year we incorporate new avenues of reflection for the FIET and strive to find innovative ways to listen to the voices of those who know best: the attendees of the Fair! In 2024, we are focusing more than ever on young people with this project, which consists of 4 key dates.
The first meeting of JOVES AL CENTRE! was an event within the framework of the Aventures artístiques, attended by five young women: Llucia, Maria, Damiana, Claudia, and Sebastiana. It took place on August 27 at EiMA in Maria de la Salut, a festival with an innovative and risky proposal that becomes a space for transformation. It consists of a collective change of perspective that we produce together with the Maria community through research, experimentation, and listening. The festival programming brings new languages and forms of movement to a different audience, who knows that what they will see and experience is not predictable. In a non-conventional setting within the performing arts, we achieve a different way of experiencing them.
On the day of the outing, August 4, there were 3 scheduled performances at EiMA. First, Els infants proposen, a community project of collective creation. Next, the young attendees watched Yo soy, a performance from Argentina and Mexico that sparked a very enriching subsequent debate. The outing concluded after dinner with Cometa, by Roser López Espinosa. It was the performance that the 5 young women from JOVES AL CENTRE! enjoyed the most because the audience could participate, and the lights and music stood out strongly.
The second meeting was part of the Trobades Implica’t, which – in an informal setting – aim to allow opinions on the planning and execution of a cultural activity such as the Fira de Teatre Infantil i Juvenil de les Illes Balears. The meeting took place on August 27 at the Municipal Library of Vilafranca, and about ten young people attended to discuss the FIET: we talked about what they would like to find at a fair of this kind, we had dinner together sharing ideas about the FIET… Following that day, we also met with the local youth, who will collaborate with the festival on Saturday.
The third meeting was again part of the Aventures artístiques and took place at the Cíclop visual theatre festival in Sineu. In this theatrical proposal, the young attendees were able to see two performances: On Tish! and Odisees. Afterwards, we had lunch with the company La Mecànica, with whom we exchanged impressions and feelings about the pieces we had watched.
The fourth and final meeting with the island youth within the framework of YOUNG AT THE CENTER! in preparation for the FIET will take place next Friday, September 27, at 8 PM at the Vilafranca Library. It will again be part of the Trobades Implica’t, and this time, it will specify what the role of young people should be at the Theatre Fair.
