Capdepera has enjoyed the Street Arts Festival, featuring a dozen multidisciplinary shows from Wednesday, July 24 to Saturday, July 27. The functions have taken place in different parts of the municipality – both Capdepera and Cala Rajada – with the presence of notable companies from Catalonia and Castile and León or Baktana , prize for the best street show at the 2023 Mostra d’Igualada .

Summer has once again become synonymous with Street Arts in Capdepera with circus, clown, parade, and also musical and itinerant proposals. This theater festival is an initiative of the Ajuntament de Capdepera , organized by Sa Xerxa de Teatre with the collaboration of the Consell de Mallorca and the Fundació La Caixa.

The Capdepera exhibition will open on Wednesday the 24th in the town market with Open Door by the Pere Hosta company, a clown proposal in which the spectators take a journey through the imagination thanks to its curious protagonist, who repeated the function also on saturday The day moved to Cala Rajada, where La Baldufa Teatre will take off its Zeppelin towards the limits of fantasy (a show that was also repeated on Thursday). The first day of the festival in the coastal town ended with the company Sound de Secà , which presented Àcid .

The next day, Thursday 25 July, you could enjoy Dis_order in Cala Rajada, in which Pere Hosta took the office out into the street to turn work into a poetics of disorder. The piece was characterized by the humor of the company’s proposals, which was also present in Woof , a work in progress that was offered on Thursday at the Cala Rajada day center and on Friday at the DomusVi residence. The initiative is part of Teatre per a Tothom, a project by Sa Xerxa of social and intergenerational actions.

Friday 26 July was the turn of the company La Bleda with Les vacances de Madame Roulotte , a family clown show held in Plaça Castellet in Cala Rajada. Then, in the same town, the street theater El jardín del viento , by Cal y Canto Teatro , began, a proposal both poetic and suggestive.

To conclude, on Saturday, July 27, it was the turn of the parade by the Colla de Gegants i Caparrots de Capdepera association, which left from the town theater to end at Sitjar square. There, from 8.30 p.m., the award-winning piece in Igualada, Baktana , was enjoyed, a Spanish-French co-production by the Lazuz Company starring two men: a juggler obsessed with his world of flying objects and an acrobat who is only able to express itself through movement.

All the shows at the Capdepera Street Arts Festival were a success in terms of attendance, with a total of about 5,000 spectators. From Sa Xerxa, we are still thrilled to be able to bring theater to the little ones from different places on the island, where a wide variety of proposals in this field are usually not available. Similarly, we continue to be excited to bring these theatrical proposals to the elderly. In this sense, Saturday was especially exciting as it coincided with the World Day of Grandparents. Therefore, we can only once again thank the Ajuntament de Capdepera for their trust and express our hope to continue the project for many more years!
