Sa Xerxa de teatre infantil i juvenil de les Illes Balears is a non-profit organization that, since its foundation in 2003, has aimed to structure and promote the theatrical offer for children and young people throughout the Islands.
In recent years Sa Xerxa has carried out projects such as the FIET Children’s and Youth Theater Fair of the Balearic Islands, the Mostra de Formentera, the Barruguet, the Santa Eulària des Riu Family Theater Festival, the Fiets Theater Festival and Fietes de Maó, or the FESTÏU, the Montuïri Summer Festival, among others. Sa Xerxa has also promoted theatrical creation with calls such as the Guillem d’Efak Prize for children’s and young people’s theater texts and the BÒTIL competition for theater and literature productions.
On the other hand, it promotes the dissemination of theater with the Teatre Als Pobles (TAP) circuit, which makes it possible for local entities and educational and cultural institutions to enjoy the best quality theater for children.
Targets
To promote a theatrical offer aimed especially at children and young people in the Balearic Islands with proposals that take care of the aesthetic and pedagogical quality.
To promote the performing arts in the Balearic Islands.
Facilitate the access to children and young people of our islands to new theatrical proposals produced inside and outside the Balearic Islands.
Create spaces for reflection, exchange and the birth of new projects and synergies that involve their own cultural industry with international projects.
Bringing together actors, companies, theater programmers and the public in order to establish new professional relationships in order to contribute to the revitalization of the performing arts sector.
Donations and sponsorships
Sa Xerxa is a non-profit organization and its funding comes from public aid, private sponsorships, membership fees and donations from individuals and companies. All these sources of income are essential to carry out the different projects as well as to guarantee quality theatrical programming.
